Max's Imaginary Mouse

Max has an imaginary friend- a mouse.  The mouse appeared probably about 2 months ago.  He doesn't talk about him a ton, but all of a sudden we'll be doing something & he'll tell me about how his mouse is doing it with us.  Or he'll want to bring his mouse with us in the car or something.  Very cute.  & now that he has an imaginary mouse I never before had realized just how many books have pictures of mice in them.  It seems like the majority of his books have a little mouse somewhere in the illustrations.  Here is a picture of him holding his mouse.

Happy Half-Birthday Max!

Dear Max,
Today is your half-birthday.  So guess what?!  That makes you 2 1/2!  I'm probably going to jinx myself, but you are nowhere close to being a terrible two.  In fact, you are quite terrific!  You are the joy of my day.  I love hearing your never ending stories & descriptions of everything you see.  I love your huge vocabulary & all of the things you pick up & learn every day.  Just today you described to me how the water tower worked- so darling...  You my darling son will go as far as you dream.  Max, you are the sweetest, kindest little boy.  I love how you take care of each member of the family.  You are so sweet & protective over your little brother & I love to watch you & Dean play.  You are such a delight.  In honor of your half-birthday here is an "interview" I did with you...

These are Max's favorite things in his own words- I've done this "interview" with him a couple of times & sometimes some of the answers change, but it's typically pretty consistent.

What is your favorite color?  green
Who is your favorite friend?  Madi
Where is your favorite place to play with your friends?  gymnastics (this was his answer because we had gone on this day, but usually the answer is Jumpy Place)
What is your favorite animal?  Mouse
What is your favorite dog?  Patton & Diesel
What is your favorite movie?  Toy Story (he means the 2nd one because he really likes the cowgirl Jessee)
Who is your favorite person on Toy Story?  Cowboy (Woody, the cowboy character)
What is your favorite tv show?  Dinosaur Train
What is your favorite drink?  juice
What is your favorite song?  Mouse song (a song Mommy made up about Max's mouse), although he often answers this question with Jesus Loves Me
What is yourfavorite thing to do with Daddy?  Park
What is your favorite thing to do with Mommy?
What is your favorite store?  HEB (although I think he actually prefers Target, HEB was his answer)
What is your favorite errand?  bank
What is your favorite number?  8
What is your favorite letter?  M (of course for Max & for Mouse)

I couldn't get him to answer some of my questions, but this is what I could get out of him on this day.  I'm going to try to ask these again & get Daddy to video tape them, just because the interview is so cute!

Dean is 9 Months Old

Where has the time flown?!  Dean is 9.5 months old!  He is crawling FAST & pulling up on everything.  Dean is getting into everything, but is so much fun.  He's very interactive & can say Dada!  He loves to laugh & play with Max's toys.  In fact, I could probably give away every baby toy we own because all he cares about is big brother's toys.  He does a beeline to Max's room to play any chance he gets.  Dean is a snuggle bug still & a very healthy eater.  Dean is such a happy baby & he hardly ever cries- he just loves people & being in the action. At his 9 mos check-up Dean weighed 20 lbs 9 oz- a full pound bigger than his brother at the same age.  He also was 27.75 inches long.

Dean was not in a very good mood when taking his 9 month old pictures...  Probably wasn't a good idea on my part to wait until right before bedtime...

Easter Weekend

We had a joyous Easter weekend.  It started out with having some good friends over for dinner on Good Friday.  The boys ran around the yard with water guns until we found Max like this:

Our weekend continued with a trip to San Antonio Saturday morning.  We went to an Easter Egg Hunt at Barrett's parents church & out to lunch...

Next was a trip to the lake.  We went to church on Sunday & then had our 4th & final Easter egg hunt.  Max could care less about egg hunts at this point.  It probably didn't help that the Easter bunny didn't put any candy in the eggs either...

Easter Post I

I remember last year I had several Easter posts.  This year I'm going to try to narrow it down to 2!  Max had 4 Easter egg hunts this year- he was a pro by Easter Sunday, but also had pretty much lost interest.  Probably didn't help that none of the eggs on Easter Sunday had any candy.  Guess the Easter bunny knew Max had had enough that week.

Our first Easter event was a MOPS craft day & Easter egg hunt.  We made boo boo bunnies & then the kiddos got to hunt for eggs.  The first egg hunt was a great success.  Especially once Max realized there was candy in the eggs!  The best treat was that even though Daddy was on call he was able to come join us!
