Austin Children's Museum

My mom (aka BeBe) & I were in Austin on a Friday & decided to take the boys to the Austin Children's Museum.  I am SO glad we got to go.  Both of the boys had a blast & it was so fun watching them both explore.  Max has been asking to go back since then & I'll definitely have to make a trip again!

Max & the Ranch

Max has been dying to visit the ranch, but with it being under construction it hasn't been possible.  Every time he's asked about going we've told him the ranch is "broken", which is true since it's under construction.  A couple of weeks ago Barrett told Max he'd be getting to go to the ranch- his response-  YIPPPEEE!  THANK YOU DADDY!  Now, what I don't understand is why Daddy gets the credit?!?!?!  It was Mommy who was driving Max the two hours there, Mommy who would be at the ranch for 2 hours without air conditioning in the middle of the August day, etc...

Well since the ranch has been "broken", Max insisted on bringing his tool box with us, so he could help Pappy & Ryan "fix" the ranch.  Pappy wasn't there, but Ryan was & Max had a great time hanging out with him.

Singing in the Rain

One evening last week it "rained".  Which means maybe 3 drops of mist fell from the sky.  It was really just enough to make it unbearably humid outside.  But since Max has been waiting for months for it to rain he really wanted to go outside & "splash in puddles like Elmo" (I guess Elmo did this on the tv- not really fair to show this to children in drought-ridden Texas).  Well he didn't get any puddles, but he was still happy!

Happy Birthday Dean Part II

Here are pictures from Dean's "real" birthday.  We let him open the presents from Mommy, Daddy, & Max on his actual birthday.  About a week before Dean's birthday I took Max to Target & let him pick out a present for Dean.  I wasn't sure how well the trip would go for a number of reasons.  I didn't know if Max would get the concept of picking out a toy for someone else & he not getting to play with it immediately.  I also didn't know if he would understand having to wait to give it to Dean.  Max did a great job picking out a present.  He narrowed it down between a drum set or a doctors kit.  He ultimately chose the doctor kit (so of course BeBe got Dean a drum set as one of his presents).  Max did great not getting upset that he couldn't play with it right then, but when we got home he ran into the room & immediately told Dean what he got him.  Thank goodness Dean has no idea what Max was talking about.  Max patiently waited & was so excited to finally give Dean his present on his real birthday.

I'm also going to post a video on here of Dean walking on his birthday!

Happy Birthday Dean

Happy birthday to my baby Dean.  He turned 1 on July 28th.  He is still just the happiest little boy.  He loves to laugh & have fun with his brother.  Dean gets so excited when Daddy comes home & starts giggling & crawling as fast as he can to get to him.  Dean loves to throw balls, stack things, watch cause & effect things, play with all of Max's toys, swim, & EAT!  Dean can say Mama, Dada, Ball, & we think he has his own "word" for brother.

His birthday party was a blast.  We had it at our house & had family come for the day.  Dean couldn't have cared less about his presents- he had found a pen & didn't want to do anything, but play with the pen.  Thankfully Max was more than willing to open presents for Dean.  Once the toys were out of the boxes though Dean was more than willing to start playing!

Dean loved his birthday cake.  It took some convincing to get him to eat it, but once he was given a few bites he went to town.

Dean also showed everyone he could take a few steps at his party.  The next week he really got the hang of it though & now he's toddling all over the house!  It's so cute to watch him try to get things now & follow after his brother.

Stomping Grounds

While we were in Sugar Land we took the boys to Stomping Grounds.  The last time we had gone Dean was too little to participate.  This time he was able to crawl in the toddler section!  Although, he really wanted to be in the big kid section with Max & BeBe.  It won't be long...

After we got back to the house after climbing all day- Max fell on his face & bumped his mouth pretty bad & got a black eye.  Later that day we had to make a trip to the dentist I used to see when I was a child.  He confirmed that his front two teeth were knocked a little loose.  He advised us to not let Max bite into any food for about 10 days.  We had an appt already scheduled with our dentist in New B the following week.  He thought Max's teeth, although still a little loose, looked really good for the trauma he had experienced.  Max did great at both dentist appts & was such a good sport.  The hygienist even said he was the best 2 year old she's ever seen in the office!  :-)

I have pics of Stomping Grounds, but none from the dentist trips...
