Introducing Wyatt Erwin Ryan Blaue

At 1:30am on September 26th I woke up after feeling a POP.  I knew immediately that my water had broken & that Wyatt would be here earlier than anticipated.  I'm thankful that I was 37 weeks & "term" & that it was safe for him to come early.  I didn't mind at all that we didn't have to wait until his scheduled c-section on October 8th.  However, since I had been anticipating him coming on the 8th I really didn't have any clear plan as to what to do, especially in the middle of the night!

Barrett & I quickly called our parents & I called my friend Colette to come sit with the kids until Barrett's parents could get here from San Antonio.  We frantically threw the remainder of the things I'd need into the half-packed bag I had ready and then we headed to the hospital to have our baby.

Since we weren't expecting the little guy to come early I hadn't done any of the pre-registering or blood work or any of that, so it took some time to get all of that done.  We also had to wait on anesthesia to get out of an emergency surgery they were on.

By 4:25am we had a perfectly tiny baby Wyatt.  He was the tiniest thing I've ever seen in my life!  Wyatt weighed only 5 lbs 14 oz & was 18 inches when he was born (little for how far along I was).  I quickly started thinking about how we didn't have anything that would fit him- newborn clothes would be way too big!  Luckily, Grandma went to the store & bought him a little outfit to come home from the hospital in & a little sleeper too.  Mitchell & Stephanie had some preemie clothes they mailed over to us & my friend Amber brought over some tiny outfits as well.  Luckily by the time I came home from the hospital Wyatt had enough little outfits to wear until he grew.

Wyatt has been a wonderful baby.  So sweet, tiny, & snuggable.  Max & Dean ADORE him!  The two big brothers have been wonderful with Wyatt & have been super sweet.  Sometimes it's a tad overwhelming how much they want to hold him, be next to him, etc, but it really is nice that they love him so much already.  Our family quickly settled into life as a family of 5!

Wyatt's 2 week check-up at the pediatrician showed that he had already gained 1 pound since leaving the hospital!  (Pediatricians are happy if newborns are back up to their birth weight- so our doctor was amazed at how fast he had gained weight!)  I'm excited with how big he's getting, but sad it's going so fast!  I can already tell he's quite a bit longer & his cheeks are getting chunkier by the day.  Pretty soon he'll catch-up to his brothers.
