Natural Bridge Caverns

We live in a great area of Texas and there are so many fun family friendly activities within a short drive.  I didn't want the summer passing us by & all we could say we did was go to the pool & to Schlitterbahn.  I wanted us to have a ton of fun experiences with the kids that we've never done.  So with the kids "help" we made a "Summer Bucket List".  Some are small things we would have done anyways- sno cones, Schlitterbahn, Jumpy Place, etc.  Others are bigger things that even Daddy gets to do with us on some of his time off.  It's been fun so far & Max is really getting into it.  He even finds things to add to the list.  Thankfully I left room for additions.

One of the events on  the bucket list was to go to Natural Bridge Caverns.  A friend had told me that they have a fun little ropes course that Max was big enough to go on.  I really thought he'd have fun with it, so we made a trip one Saturday.  It was fun taking the boys pictures on the same dinosaur that my parents have pictures of me climbing on when I was a kid.  Natural Bridge has a HUGE ropes course that you have to be bigger to do, but there was a little section for smaller kids.  Max & I went to do it & Dean looked on with Daddy & Wyatt.  Next thing I know Dean is over there wanting to do it too!  Dean is a more reserved little boy & often is fearful, so it was a big deal that he was brave enough & interested in participating.  The boys had a great time & since we had gotten there early they were the only ones there & they had the full ropes course to themselves.

I hadn't planned on it, but Barrett got very excited when we got to Natural Bridge Caverns & he really wanted to go down in the caves.  It's a mile walk & lots of stairs & it's a cave.  So I wasn't sure how it would work to bring 3 little kids with us, but they all did great.  Max did amazing & enjoyed it.  Dean was nervous & got tired of walking about half-way through.  Wyatt was somewhat fussy, especially when the guide was talking.  But it was fun & I'm glad we were able to do it.  I think we'll wait to go down in a cave again until Wyatt is at least 4.
