A Day with Thomas the Train

Several months ago a friend told me about an event in Burnet, TX- a Day with Thomas the Train.  Well Max is a big fan of trains in general & so we thought it'd be a great family thing to do.  So I ordered the tickets months ago & we had all sorts of anticipation of how much fun Max would have seeing Thomas the Train.  What we didn't count on was that the T. Train event was also close to his birthday- more specifically the 2 year old birthday.

Here's how the day went- arrive in Burnet, meet up with friends, walk into event, Max spots Thomas & gets very excited, within seconds of him seeing the train Thomas pulls away to give other kids a ride, Max starts crying.  I think it went downhill from there.  We took Max over to the big tent that had trains to play with & such.  Max gets into tug a wars with other kids that result in pushing.  I know all the kids were super excited about being in Thomas world, but some of them had acted like they had never shared or been around other kids before.  Maybe I'm spoiled because for the most part the kids we encounter are polite & well-mannered (even if there is an occasional incident), well this was not like that At.All.

The train ride was less than exciting.  The train at our local park could lap this train several times over, actually I could probably walk faster while shopping than this train went.  I'm not quite sure why they make it go so slow since it's a full sized train, but it was pretty ridiculous.  Max was pretty upset the entire 1/2 hour ride.  Which made it super fun for me & Daddy.  In all there was a few moments where he had a fun time (very short moments).  But, as you'll be able to see in the pictures most of it was pretty lousy...  :-(

In the car watching Thomas the Train dvd on the way to see Thomas the Train

Notice how unhappy he looks at the puttputt station

Look!  It's Thomas the Train

OH NO Thomas is LEAVING

Having some fun playing with the Trains under the tent

Dad is TORTURING me...  (look @ the other kids reactions- I think they thought Max was crazy)

Dad was trying to maintain a positive attitude- what a trooper

One of the few happy moments- getting a treat- chocolate milk

  1. OMG, this post is so funny! I love that you didn't sugar coat anything and told the "real" story...and the photos proved it. I especialy love the tantrum on the grass shots! I can so feel for you, and yes, we are so blessed to have a wonderful playgroup of kids that actually know how to share...what a novel concept these days!
