Summer Staycation

Barrett has been working so much this summer & we really needed a family break together.  We considered doing a mini vacation to somewhere within driving distance, but I came up with another plan.  We decided to float the river in NV & spend 5 days up in Austin.  Max & Dean have never tubed the river & they had been asking to tube just about every time we crossed over the bridges in our car or went into Gruene.  Barrett & I decided they were old enough to go this year.  It was fun & it was also a lesson in patience.  Max & Dean both started asking if it was almost over about 15 mins into the 2 hour float!!!   After it was over we headed up to Austin for the rest of Barrett's time off.  One day we took the kids to the new children's museum- the Thinkery.  On one of the days Barrett took the boys to the ranch (& I got to read 2 books that day!!!).  Then we had a couple of days to wakeboard, kneeboard, & tube.  It was nice to stay close, but still have some time off together as a family.
